Welcome to Kai's Art Beats Foundation

Born from loss, built on love.

Kai’s Art Beats Foundation is a creative, trauma-informed charity supporting people aged 4-40 affected by violence, poverty, exclusion, or grief. Inspired by the life of Kai McGinley — a talented young musician whose journey was tragically cut short — we transform pain into purpose through creative mediums and emotional well-being.

Whether it's a beat, a brushstroke, or a heartfelt recording, we believe in giving young people the tools to be heard, to heal, and to grow.

Covering SE15,SE5,SE17,SE16 and other surrounding southwark areas.

In Loving Memory of Kai McGinley

A brother, a son, a soul full of rhythm and fire.
He dreamed in lyrics, fought hard for change, and left too soon.

This foundation carries his name — and his heartbeat.
Through every beat, every story, every second chance,
Kai lives on.

Forever missed. Fiercely remembered. Always loved.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Kai's Art beats Foundation?

We’re a trauma-informed creative charity supporting young people and adults (ages 4–40) affected by violence, grief, exclusion, or poverty. We use music, art, and digital storytelling to help individuals heal, express themselves, and reconnect with hope.

Who was Kai?

Kai McGinley was a talented young musician and a beloved son, brother, and friend. His life was tragically cut short by violence, but his spirit lives on through this foundation, built in his name to support others walking similar paths.

Who can join our programmes?

Our projects are designed for ages 4–40. Some are open-access, while others focus on individuals at risk of crime, living in poverty, or processing grief. We also help individuals or families with bereavement services. Check each programme page for eligibility.

Do I need artistic experience to take part?

Not at all. Our sessions are about self-expression, not perfection. Whether you’ve never picked up a paintbrush or you freestyle in your bedroom, you are welcome here.

Are your services free?

Yes. Thanks to donations and grant funding, all of our core programmes are free to participants. We believe healing and creativity should never come with a price tag.

Where are you based?

We’re based in South London — with plans to grow. We currently operate in the SE15,SE5,SE17,SE16 and other surronding southwark boroughs. Our pilot sessions are running locally in venues like community centres, and creative hubs.

Is this therapy?

No, we don’t offer clinical therapy. But our work is grounded in therapeutic values, emotional safety, and trauma-informed practice. We collaborate with trained mental health support workers and always prioritise consent and care.

Yes — whether you're a parent, carer, school, youth service, or mental health professional, get in touch with us and we’ll walk you through how referrals work.

How are you funded?

We’re an independent, grassroots charity. We rely on grants, community support, and fundraising efforts — including some directly led by Kai’s family and friends.

“Some lives aren’t just changed by creativity —
they’re saved by it.”
